Quality Images has been servicing scanning electron microscopes (SEMs) since 1981.  We started servicing ETEC Autoscans, Omniscans and Autoprobes and now service numerous models of many manufacturers including Amray, ISI-Topcon, JEOL, Hitachi and Philips (FEI).  We particularly specialize in older models that may receive less support, or outright orphans that are not supported at all.  Our location in Maine allows us to give prompt service in the Northeast.

Our goal is not only to have your system running to its original specifications, but to enable you to do your job by making sure that you understand what is actually happening in the electron column, in the electronics, and particularly where the beam meets the sample.  In addition, when there are problems with attached systems that we don’t service (such as x-ray analyzers), we will work with the manufacturer to sort out the source of the problem rather than just saying “It’s their problem.”  Sometimes, with the manufacturer’s permission and help, we repair their equipment to get you back up and running.

You’ve made a substantial investment in your SEM.  If it does what you need it to do, and does it well, it doesn’t matter that the system is 10, 20 or even 30 years old.  Most of them were truly built to last and can be kept running to their original specs.  Digital imaging capabilities can be added easily, in most cases, and your EDS upgrade will probably give you digital imaging and a lot of other capabilities that you can use.

Our experience has been that many SEMs are typically operated at or below 2,500X and rarely over 10,000X.  If you don’t require the very high resolution of field emission, the capabilities of an environmental SEM or the ability to remotely operate the system, your familiar and faithful SEM may still be your best friend.  We can keep it healthy.
